What was hot at ARA 2022

PODCAST: In conversation with key speakers, delegates and award winners at this weekend’s ARA Annual Scientific Meeting.

PODCAST: After another year of lockdowns and border closures, the Australian rheumatology community has at least partly come together again at ARA ASM 2022.

Rheumatology Republic captured the spirit of the conference in conversation with speakers at the Sydney hub, including Professor Lyn March, Professor Paul Bird and Dr Mona Marabani.

We also spoke with delegates there to catch up on the some of the latest research – and with colleagues.

Popular sessions included the covid update, which one delegate heralded as a timely “masterclass”. Other delegates lauded the sessions on sleep disorders, autoinflammation and paediatric papers.

The overall sentiment in the face-to-face hubs was one of celebration at coming together again.

Dr Manasi Mittinty, a physician pain scientist from the University of Sydney, was “absolutely loving it”.

“To have the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and ask questions in real time has been a real joy. I’ve enjoyed all the sessions. Some of them have been virtual but it doesn’t feel virtual because of the interactive element in the Sydney hub,” she said.
