What socks are YOU wearing today?
Today is CrazySocks4Docsday, to raise awareness of mental health in healthcare professionals – something that’s always important but particularly so during a global pandemic where doctors and nurses are run off their feet.
Here are some of the finer examples of fancy foot-frippery you all have been toting this morning (and for more check out #crazysocks4docs on Twitter):
There are things I am crazy about. I do like socks and I’m crazy about these! It’s #CrazySocks4Docs today and we need to reach out to each other. In a ❤️beat! Be kind. Act with compassion. Embrace ourselves. Together. pic.twitter.com/G9o7bCjM7S

Intern, HMO, registrar, consultant or even CMO – we are all ‘docs in socks’ – need to care for ourselves and our own so we can best care for others! #CrazySocks4Docs @Bendigo_health pic.twitter.com/pQrA1EK9vr

It's #CrazySocks4Docs Day! According to the National Mental Health Survey of Doctors and Medical Students, young doctors, like Yas, Nick and Mike (pictured) are especially vulnerable to mental health problems.

Today when we share our crazy socks, lets 'walk the talk' too. Socks alone can't transform, but action can. Caring for ourselves and one another, reducing stigma, sharing our vulnerabilities and advocating for mental health and wellbeing is truly transformative! #crazysocks4docs pic.twitter.com/OKBariAZ3R

#CrazySocks4Docs it’s ok not to be ok ..actions need to follow words. Until the system we are part of has a culture of compassion not control, hearing not defending, empathising not judging, accountability & not just blame..lots more doctors ( & other HCW’s) won’t be ok. pic.twitter.com/UyBSvcMUpV

Here's my effort for #CrazySocks4Docs today. @gdtoogood got the idea after he turned up for work one day wearing odd coloured socks. His hospital colleagues whispered about his ‘failure’ to wearing matching socks. He started this initiative to make it ok for a doctor to not be ok pic.twitter.com/igZtRtZMuN

There’s still a long way to go to ensure safe working conditions for doctors but I’m glad the conversations I’ve been a part of recently are how to make this a reality. Hopefully we’re not too far away to making safe and respectful practice of medicine the norm. #CrazySocks4Docs pic.twitter.com/87TMzFzreb
